About Rose Steele Consulting
Rose Steele Theatre Consulting is a new venture for Ms. Steele – after more than 30 years of consulting, she is focusing her new practice on planning, programming, and conceptual design to create the right path for a performing arts facility from the earliest stage.
After earning a degree in theatre from Western Michigan University, she worked in several Midwestern and Southern States in scene shops, box offices, as a stage manager, a stagehand, and artistic director for a small community theatre group.
In 1987 she joined the well-known theatre consulting firm of Landry & Bogan, where she began her training as a theatre consultant. In 1997 she became a co-owner and CFO until L&B closed in 2016. She joined the Ruzika Company from 2017-2020 as Senior Associate Theatre Consultant.
Through these years, she has specialized in pre-planning, programming, and conceptual design for facilities for live performance and the audience, support and technical spaces that go with them. She works closely with the clients and the architects to discern the needs of the users, document them, and provide all parties with the tools to make informed decisions about the characteristics and capabilities of the facility. She also creates conceptual designs for theatre spaces, including vertical sightline and seating layouts with proprietary software developed by Jack Bogan, and she assists architects with the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act as applied to assembly spaces.

What People Are Saying About Rose
I have known and worked closely with Rose since shortly after McKay Conant Hoover Inc was founded over 3 decades ago. In that time, we’ve worked seamlessly on over 3 dozen significant performing arts projects throughout the West and Midwest for clients ranging from various colleges and universities to venues owned and operated by cities stretching from San Diego to Seattle and throughout Arizona. Each project has been characterized by enjoying wonderful and highly productive interactions between Rose and her clients. These interfaces have revealed her rare ability to extract the essence of what clients are seeking and juxtaposing those with creative, realized solutions within their budgets.

Rose is one of the most enthusiastic theater designers that I have ever met. She knows her craft and works hard to integrate the technical aspects into the architecture to create a seamless, beautiful, and functional spaces. She is always ready to work hard to realize her client’s needs and long-term goals. I look forward to the day where I can work with Rose again.

I am grateful for the opportunity to have worked with you / The Ruzika Group on the Monte Vista Christian School Chapel project. Your design and documentation was solid, well based with current state of the art products, and your input during the construction process was invaluable. I hope we get a chance to work together again.
